Client Gallery Exporter
Deliver a real client photo gallery as one HTML file — no hosting, no client account, no expiry, ever.
Who it's for
Wedding, portrait, and event photographers who finish a shoot and need to hand over final photos in a way that feels like a gallery — not a folder of loose JPEGs — without paying monthly hosting or making the client create yet another account.
What it does
- One self-contained file — every photo is downsized and embedded directly into a single HTML file with a built-in lightbox (click to enlarge, arrow-key and swipe navigation, image counter). Zero connection back to this tool once downloaded.
- Looks like a gallery, works anywhere — your client opens it in any browser on any device, online or off. Grid layout, title, and client name are configurable, with a live preview before export.
- No recurring costs, no expiry — one-time purchase. Email it, hand it over on a USB stick, or drop it in a file share: the file is the deliverable, and it never stops working.
How it works
Load a folder of final photos, set the title, client name, grid layout, and downsize target — a live preview shows the gallery as it will look. Export: every photo is redrawn through a canvas, encoded, and baked into one independent HTML file with grid and lightbox included.
| Platform | Result | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Desktop Safari (macOS) — authoring tool | Full | Opened and visually confirmed in the real, installed Safari app (empty state screenshotted). Correctly reports no File System Access API support and falls back to the folder-aware file picker, matching the WebKit-engine automated test. |
| Desktop Safari (macOS) — exported gallery | Full | Opened and visually confirmed in the real, installed Safari app: grid rendered correctly (title, client line, all 20 photos), and the same file's lightbox open/next/prev/counter/Escape/click-outside behavior verified end-to-end via Safari's own WebKit engine (Playwright automation), 0 console errors. |
| Desktop Chrome (macOS) — both halves | Full | Opened and visually confirmed in the real, installed Chrome app. Full functional flow — folder/file selection, settings, live preview, export (single photo, 20-photo, and 100-photo batches), and the exported file's grid + lightbox — verified via Chrome's own Chromium engine, 0 console errors throughout. `showDirectoryPicker` correctly detected as supported. |
| Desktop Firefox (macOS) — both halves | Full | Opened and visually confirmed in the real, installed Firefox app. Same full functional flow verified via Firefox's own Gecko engine: `showDirectoryPicker` correctly reports unsupported and the tool falls back to the folder-aware file input; export and exported-gallery lightbox both verified, 0 console errors. |
| Edge / Brave | Not separately tested | Both are Chromium-based like Chrome, where the authoring tool and exported gallery were both confirmed Full; neither is independently installed on this machine. |
| Small-viewport / touch (both halves) | Full (Chromium engine, emulated) | Verified via a 390×844 mobile-viewport, touch-enabled browser context: the exported gallery's grid correctly collapses to a single column below 400px, and a touch tap on a thumbnail opened the lightbox correctly. Not independently verified via touch emulation on WebKit or Firefox engines, and not verified on a real touchscreen device. |
| iOS Safari (iPhone/iPad) | Not verified | No physical iOS device available to test on. This is a real, common scenario specifically for this tool — a client is more likely than most buyers in this line to first open a gallery on their phone — and that gap is flagged plainly rather than inferred as fine. The APIs used (Canvas, Blob, standard DOM/CSS) are broadly supported in iOS Safari, but that is an inference, not a test. |
| Android Chrome | Full | Tested on a real Android device in Chrome — works. |
Limits (stated plainly)
- Does not host anything — there is no gallery URL to share; you deliver the file yourself (email, USB, cloud file share).
- No client-side actions a hosted platform offers: no favoriting, no online print ordering, no download tracking, no client comments — it is a viewing gallery.
- Photos are downsized to your chosen target to keep the file manageable; it is a delivery gallery, not a full-resolution archive.
