PDF Merger / Splitter / Reorder

Combine, reorder, and split PDFs entirely in your browser — no upload, no account, no watermark.

Merge PDF files right in your browser: drop in one or more PDFs, drag the page thumbnails into the order you want, delete the pages you don't need, and download the merged PDF — or pull a page range out of a single PDF into its own file. Everything happens on this page; your document is never sent anywhere.

What it does

PDF Merger / Splitter / Reorder is a single downloaded HTML file that combines, reorders, deletes, and extracts pages from PDFs directly in your browser. Drop in one or more PDF files and every page across all of them renders as a thumbnail in one grid. Drag thumbnails into the order you want (or use the on-card ▲/▼ buttons, which also work by keyboard), click the × on any page you don't want, then click "Download merged PDF" to get a single, real, correctly-ordered PDF built from the pages you kept. With exactly one PDF loaded, an additional "Extract page range" field lets you pull a specific range (e.g. "1-3, 5, 8-10") into its own new file — a quick way to split a PDF without touching the thumbnail grid at all.

Who it's for: a contractor combining five separately scanned permit pages into one file before emailing the city; a freelancer merging a signed contract and an invoice into one PDF for a client; anyone who was handed multiple PDF pieces and needs one clean file, or has one long PDF and only needs a few pages of it.

What it does not do: it doesn't open or remove PDF passwords (a password-protected file is flagged and skipped, not decrypted); it doesn't edit page content, add annotations, or run OCR; it doesn't compress or optimize file size; and it doesn't merge non-PDF files (images, Word docs, etc.) — only PDFs in, PDFs out.

Features

  • Merges any number of PDFs into one file, in whatever page order you choose
  • Renders a real thumbnail of every page across all loaded files, not just filenames
  • Drag-and-drop reorder and delete individual pages, plus keyboard-accessible ▲/▼ move buttons on every page
  • Extracts a page range (e.g. "1-3, 5, 8-10") from a single PDF into its own new file
  • Zero uploads: pdf.js and pdf-lib are bundled directly into this one file, and it makes zero network requests once opened
  • Flags corrupted, password-protected, empty, or non-PDF files individually without blocking the good files in the same batch

Browser support

Platform Result Notes
Chrome / Edge / Brave (Chromium engine) Full Verified directly in the real, installed Chrome.app (visual load check) and thoroughly in the Chromium engine via automated testing: 10-page multi-file load, thumbnails, native drag-and-drop reorder, delete, extract, merge, zero network requests, clean console.
Safari (WebKit engine) Full, with one benign, self-recovering console notice Verified directly in the real, installed Safari.app (visual load check) and thoroughly in the WebKit engine: identical functional results to Chromium — correct thumbnails, correct merge/extract output, zero network requests. When opened as a local file (not via a web server), WebKit logs two internal messages about the background worker script and pdf.js automatically falls back to running the same decoding code on the main thread instead — verified this does not affect correctness or produce a noticeably slower experience (a 55-page PDF still rendered in well under a second).
Firefox (Gecko engine) Full Verified directly in the real, installed Firefox.app (visual load check) and thoroughly in the Firefox engine: identical functional results — thumbnails, reorder, merge, extract, zero network requests, clean console.
iOS Safari Not tested No physical iOS device available to test on.
Android Chrome Full Tested on a real Android device in Chrome — works.
Small viewport / touch Not tested Not verified via device-emulation in this pass; the grid layout is responsive CSS (`auto-fill` grid), and every action has a non-drag fallback (▲/▼ buttons, tap-friendly × button), but touch-specific drag behavior was not exercised.

Verified by actually opening the tool and running real merges — loading multiple PDFs, rendering every page thumbnail, reordering, deleting, extracting, and downloading a valid result — not inferred from reading the code.

FAQ

Does my file get uploaded anywhere?
No. This is a single HTML file with both PDF libraries built into it. It makes zero network requests once it's open in your browser — verified directly, not just assumed, including with a 55-page file and multi-file batches. Your PDFs never leave your computer.

Does this work with password-protected PDFs?
No — a password-protected PDF is detected and clearly flagged as skipped rather than silently failing or being decrypted. Remove the password first in Preview, Acrobat, or a similar tool, then load the unlocked file here.

Is there a page or file-size limit?
No hard limit is enforced. A 55-page real PDF loaded and thumbnailed in under half a second in testing; very large files (hundreds of pages, especially with large embedded images) will take longer to render thumbnails for, proportionally, since everything happens in your browser's own memory rather than on a server.

What happens to my file if I lose the download?
Nothing is kept anywhere to recover it from — there's no account, no cloud copy, no history. Reload the page and everything that was in the browser tab's memory is gone. Re-open your original source PDFs and repeat the merge/extract if you need the result again.

Can I use this for client or commercial work?
Yes. One-time purchase, personal and commercial use included — see License/usage terms below.

Is there a subscription?
No. One-time purchase, yours to keep and reuse offline forever.

Does this work on my iPhone/iPad?
Not verified. The tool is built with standard, modern web APIs and there's no reason to expect it wouldn't run in iOS Safari, but no physical iOS or Android device was available to actually confirm it, so this isn't claimed as tested — see the platform-support table above.
